Join us to tick off the formal stuff for another year, PLUS hear from Christian Miller about using LiDAR and GIS to find and scout out first descents.
The e-AGM will be short (usually only a few minutes) – and we need enough members present to get it done – so please turn up!
Details have been sent to members – or join using the link below.
Going hi-tech on 1st D's
Christian Miller’s name has been appearing more and more frequently next to new first descents over recent years.
We’re lucky to have him along tonight, to talk to us about the new technology available to us to prospect and scout new canyons.
Back in the old days, it was a mixture of geology maps, topographic details, local knowledge and hot tips from hunters, climbers or aircraft pilots that led teams into the unknown. As often as not, instead of a classic, they found a crappy stream with hardly any canyon, not that many waterfalls and no pools…
But with improvements in mapping tech, separating good canyons from duds is getting easier. Join us to hear about the successes, failures, and surprises, that Christian and his team have had with identifying and exploring new canyons.
